A decadent fusion dessert combining the flavors of Bananas Foster with creamy banana pudding layers.

Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp dark rum (optional)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 (5.1 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 oz) container vanilla Greek yogurt or whipped topping
  • 1 cup vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
  • Whipped cream, for topping

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, melt butter and stir in brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Add cinnamon and nutmeg, then stir in rum (if using); simmer until sauce thickens slightly, about 2 minutes.
  3. Add banana slices and cook gently for 1–2 minutes until coated and warmed; remove from heat.
  4. Meanwhile, whisk pudding mix and cold milk until thickened (about 2 minutes).
  5. Fold in Greek yogurt or whipped topping until smooth and creamy.
  6. In serving glasses or a trifle dish, layer: a spoonful of pudding, banana sauce and bananas, crushed wafers; repeat layers, finishing with bananas and wafers.
  7. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour to set.
  8. Before serving, top with whipped cream and optional drizzle of reserved banana foster sauce.

Notes

  • Rum may be omitted for a kid-friendly version.
  • Use low‑fat milk and yogurt to reduce calories.
  • Prepare sauce just before assembling to keep bananas fresh.
  • For extra crunch, garnish with toasted pecans.
