Description

Tender beef tips simmered in a rich, savory gravy, perfect for serving over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs beef stew meat or sirloin tips, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.
  2. Add beef tips and brown on all sides. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
  4. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  5. Return beef to the pan and add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  6. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 1.5 to 2 hours or until beef is tender.
  7. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water until smooth. Stir into the beef mixture.
  8. Simmer uncovered for 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently, until the gravy thickens.
  9. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or egg noodles.

Notes

  • You can use a slow cooker for this recipe; cook on low for 6-8 hours.
  • For extra flavor, deglaze the pan with a splash of red wine before adding broth.
  • Add mushrooms or green peas for added texture and flavor.
