A simple and delicious bow tie pasta recipe with a creamy tomato sauce, perfect for a quick weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
- 12 oz bow tie pasta
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the bow tie pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juices), basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5-7 minutes.
- Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Add the cooked pasta to the sauce and toss to combine evenly.
- Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.
Notes
- You can add grilled chicken or shrimp for added protein.
- For a spicier version, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
- Use fresh basil instead of dried for enhanced flavor.
