Description
Candy grapes are a fun and colorful treat made by coating fresh grapes in a sweet, tangy candy shell. Perfect for parties, snacks, or a unique dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 cups seedless grapes (green or red)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp flavored extract (optional, e.g., cherry or watermelon)
- Gel food coloring (optional)
- Sprinkles or sanding sugar (optional, for decoration)
Instructions
- Wash and thoroughly dry the grapes. Insert a toothpick or skewer into each grape for easier handling.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease it. Set aside.
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar, water, and corn syrup over medium heat.
- Stir until the sugar dissolves, then stop stirring and let it boil until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage) on a candy thermometer.
- Remove from heat and quickly stir in flavored extract and food coloring if using.
- Carefully dip each grape into the hot candy mixture, letting excess drip off, then place on the prepared baking sheet.
- Optionally, sprinkle with sanding sugar or sprinkles while still sticky.
- Let the candy coating harden completely before serving.
Notes
- Be cautious when handling hot sugar syrup—it can cause burns.
- Use different colors and flavors for a variety of candy grapes.
- Best consumed within a day or two for optimal crunch and freshness.
