Description
A rich and creamy French-style hot chocolate made with real dark chocolate for an indulgent treat.
Ingredients
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 4 oz dark chocolate (70% cacao), chopped
- 2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the milk and heavy cream. Heat until just simmering.
- Add the chopped dark chocolate and stir continuously until melted and smooth.
- Stir in the sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Continue heating gently, stirring until everything is well combined and hot but not boiling.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately in mugs.
- Optional: Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or a cinnamon stick for garnish.
Notes
- Use high-quality dark chocolate for the best flavor.
- Adjust sugar to taste depending on the bitterness of the chocolate.
- For a thicker version, reduce the milk by 1/2 cup or add 1 tsp cornstarch dissolved in a bit of cold milk before heating.
