- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/4 cups brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
- 1/4 cup brown sugar (for cinnamon swirl)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for cinnamon swirl)
- 4 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla; mix until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Stir dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared pan.
- In a small bowl, mix the cinnamon swirl sugars and cinnamon. Sprinkle evenly over the batter and swirl with a knife or skewer.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or until the top is set and a toothpick inserted comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- While bars cool, prepare the glaze: beat cream cheese, powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth.
- Drizzle the glaze over cooled bars. Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
- For extra gooey bars, slightly underbake and let cool fully in the pan.
- Add chopped pecans or walnuts for a crunchy twist.
- Bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to 4 days at room temperature.
- Warm slightly before serving for that fresh-from-the-oven taste.
