- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
- Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Place the chicken pieces in a bowl with the buttermilk, salt, and pepper. Mix well and marinate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a shallow dish, mix the flour, garlic powder, and paprika.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs.
- Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
- Remove chicken from marinade, dredge each piece in flour, dip in egg, then coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the chicken nuggets in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 4-5 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
- For a healthier version, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through.
- You can substitute buttermilk with yogurt or milk mixed with lemon juice.
- Freeze uncooked nuggets for a quick meal later.
