Description

These Salisbury steak meatballs are a comforting and hearty dinner option, combining flavorful beef meatballs with a rich gravy sauce. Perfect for a cozy meal!

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  2. Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-2 inches in diameter, and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add beef broth and bring to a simmer. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet for extra flavor.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together flour and a bit of the broth to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the skillet to thicken the sauce.
  6. Add the heavy cream to the skillet and return the meatballs to the pan. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
  7. Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Serve the meatballs over mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.

Notes

  • You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version of this dish.
  • For a thicker gravy, add a little more flour to the broth slurry.
  • If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
