Scale
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 tbsp flour
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Shape the mixture into meatballs, about 1-2 inches in diameter, and set aside.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the meatballs and cook until browned on all sides, about 6-8 minutes. Remove meatballs from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add beef broth and bring to a simmer. Scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet for extra flavor.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour and a bit of the broth to create a slurry. Stir the slurry into the skillet to thicken the sauce.
- Add the heavy cream to the skillet and return the meatballs to the pan. Simmer for 5-10 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and the gravy has thickened.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving. Serve the meatballs over mashed potatoes or rice for a complete meal.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a leaner version of this dish.
- For a thicker gravy, add a little more flour to the broth slurry.
- If you prefer a spicier dish, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce.
