Creamy, flavorful, and easy-to-make garlic mashed potatoes perfect as a side dish for any meal.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds russet or Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 4 cloves garlic, peeled
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Optional: chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Place the potatoes and garlic cloves in a large pot and cover with cold water.
- Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer and cook until potatoes are tender, about 15-20 minutes.
- Drain the potatoes and garlic, then return them to the pot.
- Add the butter and mash until mostly smooth.
- Gradually stir in the milk until the desired consistency is reached.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Garnish with chopped parsley if desired and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra creamy potatoes, use a hand mixer after mashing.
- Roast the garlic beforehand for a milder, sweeter flavor.
- Warm the milk before adding to the potatoes for better absorption.
