Description

Easy Japanese Coffee Jelly is a refreshing and slightly sweet dessert made with black coffee and gelatin, served chilled and often topped with whipped cream. It’s a simple yet elegant treat popular in Japanese cafés.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups brewed black coffee (hot)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 2 teaspoons unflavored gelatin powder
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
  • Whipped cream or sweetened condensed milk (for serving)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin over cold water and let sit for 5 minutes to bloom.
  2. Meanwhile, add sugar to the hot coffee and stir until dissolved.
  3. After blooming, stir the gelatin mixture into the hot sweetened coffee until completely dissolved.
  4. Pour the mixture into a square dish, bowl, or individual cups and let cool to room temperature.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2–3 hours, or until fully set.
  6. Cut into cubes if set in a dish, or serve as-is from cups. Top with whipped cream or drizzle with condensed milk before serving.
