Description

A comforting and easy-to-make tater tot casserole with ground beef, creamy soup, and crispy tater tots, perfect for a hearty family dinner.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in cream of mushroom soup and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
  6. Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top, and bake an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Use cream of chicken soup as a substitute for mushroom soup if preferred.
  • Add a layer of frozen vegetables for added nutrition.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
