A comforting and easy-to-make tater tot casserole with ground beef, creamy soup, and crispy tater tots, perfect for a hearty family dinner.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and chopped onion until beef is browned and onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in cream of mushroom soup and milk. Season with salt and pepper.
- Transfer the beef mixture to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the beef mixture.
- Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top, and bake an additional 5 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- Use cream of chicken soup as a substitute for mushroom soup if preferred.
- Add a layer of frozen vegetables for added nutrition.
- Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
