Description
Fresno Poppers are a spicy and savory appetizer made by stuffing Fresno chili peppers with a creamy cheese filling and baking them until bubbly and golden.
Ingredients
- 12 Fresno chili peppers
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
- 6 strips bacon, cooked and crumbled (optional)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Cut each Fresno pepper in half lengthwise and remove seeds and membranes.
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, cheddar cheese, green onions, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and bacon (if using).
- Spoon the cheese mixture into each pepper half, pressing it in firmly.
- Place stuffed peppers on the baking sheet and brush the tops with olive oil.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and slightly browned.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
- Wear gloves when handling hot peppers to avoid skin irritation.
- Use a piping bag for easier filling of the peppers.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the bacon.
