Description

A delicious and savory meatloaf filled with the earthy flavor of mushrooms and the creamy richness of Swiss cheese.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp dried thyme
  • 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onions, mushrooms, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and thyme.
  3. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
  4. Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a lightly greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
  5. Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
  6. Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the cheese.
  7. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  8. Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sauté the mushrooms beforehand to release their moisture.
  • Feel free to swap out the ground pork for additional ground beef or another type of ground meat.
  • For a lighter version, you can use lean ground beef and low-fat cheese.
