Description
A delicious and savory meatloaf filled with the earthy flavor of mushrooms and the creamy richness of Swiss cheese.
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 lb ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup chopped onions
- 1 cup mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup ketchup (for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onions, mushrooms, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and thyme.
- Mix until everything is well incorporated.
- Form the mixture into a loaf shape and place it in a lightly greased baking dish or on a lined baking sheet.
- Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese evenly over the top of the meatloaf.
- Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the cheese.
- Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
- Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, you can sauté the mushrooms beforehand to release their moisture.
- Feel free to swap out the ground pork for additional ground beef or another type of ground meat.
- For a lighter version, you can use lean ground beef and low-fat cheese.
