Ingredients
Units
Scale
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha (optional)
- 1 (8 oz) can water chestnuts, drained and diced
- 2 green onions, thinly sliced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 head butter lettuce or iceberg lettuce, leaves separated
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground chicken and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes, breaking it up as it cooks.
- Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger. Cook until onion becomes translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in hoisin sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and Sriracha. Mix well to combine.
- Add diced water chestnuts and green onions. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- Remove from heat and spoon mixture into lettuce leaves.
- Serve immediately, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
Notes
- For extra crunch, add shredded carrots or chopped peanuts.
- Ground turkey or tofu can be substituted for chicken for variation.
- Serve with extra hoisin or soy sauce on the side.
