Description
Quick and easy caramelized bananas made by pan-frying ripe bananas in butter and brown sugar. Perfect as a dessert topping or a sweet snack.
Ingredients
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Peel and slice the bananas into thick diagonal pieces.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
- Once the butter is melted, stir in the brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Add cinnamon and vanilla extract if using.
- Let the sugar melt and bubble slightly to form a caramel-like sauce, about 1-2 minutes.
- Place the banana slices into the skillet in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden and caramelized.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately as a topping for pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or enjoy on its own.
Notes
- Use bananas that are ripe but still firm for the best texture.
- Add a splash of rum for a boozy twist.
- Serve warm for best taste.
- Double the butter and sugar if making a larger batch.
