Description

Quick and easy caramelized bananas made by pan-frying ripe bananas in butter and brown sugar. Perfect as a dessert topping or a sweet snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Peel and slice the bananas into thick diagonal pieces.
  2. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter.
  3. Once the butter is melted, stir in the brown sugar and a pinch of salt. Add cinnamon and vanilla extract if using.
  4. Let the sugar melt and bubble slightly to form a caramel-like sauce, about 1-2 minutes.
  5. Place the banana slices into the skillet in a single layer and cook for 1-2 minutes on each side until golden and caramelized.
  6. Remove from heat and serve immediately as a topping for pancakes, waffles, ice cream, or enjoy on its own.

Notes

  • Use bananas that are ripe but still firm for the best texture.
  • Add a splash of rum for a boozy twist.
  • Serve warm for best taste.
  • Double the butter and sugar if making a larger batch.
