Description

A festive and colorful marble cake featuring red, white, and blue swirls, perfect for patriotic celebrations like the 4th of July or Memorial Day.

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Red food coloring
  • Blue food coloring

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt or loaf pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Alternate adding the flour mixture and milk to the butter mixture, beginning and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter into three bowls. Leave one bowl plain, add red food coloring to one, and blue to another. Stir until well mixed.
  7. Spoon dollops of each color into the prepared pan, alternating colors. Swirl gently with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with a simple glaze before serving.

Notes

  • Use gel food coloring for more vibrant colors.
  • Do not over-swirl the batter to keep the colors distinct.
  • This cake can be frozen for up to 2 months.
