Description

A flavorful twist on traditional sloppy joes, these Slow Cooker Mississippi Sloppy Joes are made with tangy pepperoncini, savory seasonings, and slow-cooked beef for a tender, zesty sandwich filling.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup sliced pepperoncini peppers (with a bit of juice)
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • Optional: sliced cheese for serving

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
  2. Transfer the cooked beef to a slow cooker.
  3. Sprinkle the ranch seasoning mix and au jus gravy mix over the beef.
  4. Add the butter and pepperoncini peppers (with some juice for extra flavor).
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or on high for 2-3 hours.
  6. Stir the mixture to combine well before serving.
  7. Serve the sloppy joe mixture on hamburger buns. Add sliced cheese if desired.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce grease.
  • For a spicier kick, add extra pepperoncini juice or crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen for meal prep.
