Ingredients
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
- Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a dough forms.
- In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
- Divide dough into two portions. Roll each portion into a rectangle on parchment paper.
- Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over each rectangle.
- Roll each dough portion into a log, then chill for 20-30 minutes.
- Slice logs into 1/2-inch thick cookies and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
- Let cool, then mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and let set before serving.
