Description

Soft and Chewy Cinnamon Roll Sugar Cookies combine the flavors of classic cinnamon rolls with the texture of chewy sugar cookies, perfect for a cozy treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add egg and vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually mix in dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon.
  7. Divide dough into two portions. Roll each portion into a rectangle on parchment paper.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over each rectangle.
  9. Roll each dough portion into a log, then chill for 20-30 minutes.
  10. Slice logs into 1/2-inch thick cookies and place on prepared baking sheets.
  11. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  12. Let cool, then mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make glaze.
  13. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and let set before serving.

Notes

  • Chilling the dough logs helps maintain shape while slicing.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
  • Use parchment paper to avoid sticking while rolling the dough.
