Description

A classic American salad made with fresh apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts in a creamy dressing, perfect as a light appetizer or side dish.


Ingredients

  • 2 medium apples, cored and chopped
  • 1 cup red seedless grapes, halved
  • 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Lettuce leaves for serving (optional)


Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, toss the chopped apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Add the grapes, celery, and walnuts to the bowl with the apples.
  3. In a separate small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with salt and pepper.
  4. Pour the dressing over the fruit and vegetable mixture and stir gently to combine.
  5. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
  6. Serve on a bed of lettuce leaves if desired.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with plain yogurt.
  • Use green apples for a tart contrast or a mix of apple varieties for more flavor.
  • Toasting the walnuts enhances their flavor.
