Description
A classic American salad made with fresh apples, celery, grapes, and walnuts in a creamy dressing, perfect as a light appetizer or side dish.
Ingredients
- 2 medium apples, cored and chopped
- 1 cup red seedless grapes, halved
- 1 cup celery, thinly sliced
- 1/2 cup walnuts, roughly chopped
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lettuce leaves for serving (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, toss the chopped apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Add the grapes, celery, and walnuts to the bowl with the apples.
- In a separate small bowl, mix the mayonnaise with salt and pepper.
- Pour the dressing over the fruit and vegetable mixture and stir gently to combine.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.
- Serve on a bed of lettuce leaves if desired.
Notes
- For a lighter version, substitute half the mayonnaise with plain yogurt.
- Use green apples for a tart contrast or a mix of apple varieties for more flavor.
- Toasting the walnuts enhances their flavor.
